a responsible way
Through the construction of great
infrastructure projects, such as the hydroelectric projects, positive impacts
are generated for Panamanians, inherent to these developments, among them: more
job opportunities, better health services, the preparation of infrastructure, as
well as the increase of national and international commercial activities.
There is no sector of the Panamanian
economy and society that will not be positively impacted, with the development
of energy projects for the country, since access to energy is a growing factor
that contributes to the improvement of quality of life.
AES Changuinola S.A. is aware that its
operations should be kept within a sustainable development that considers, among
other values, the environment’s protection and the strengthening of equity, as
main promoters of the economic and social development of the country. The
company has channeled all necessary efforts and resources that allow achieving
an outstanding environmental and social work, on each of the project’s stages.
For this reason it is managed as an
environmentally and socially responsible business, that respects the rights of
the citizens’ country in which it operates, as well as the laws and regulations
that govern the development of the activity.
It’s in this context that, as beneficiary of the
rights’ concession for hydroelectric exploitation of the site named Changuinola
I (CHAN 75) and in addition, promoter of its construction and subsequent
operation, the company, with the participation of all its employees, has set the
goal that Changuinola I will represent a model project of responsible
hydroelectric generation in Panama.
