AES Changuinola S.A. is the
company taking care of the development, construction and subsequent
operation and administration of the hydroelectric energy generation
power station named Changuinola I, where project Chan 75 is developed,
also known as “El Gavilan”.
The construction,
engineering and design of the civil works of the project Changuinola I
is under the responsibility of a group of international companies
specialized on the development of big infrastructures, grouped under the
consortium Changuinola Civil Works Joint Venture, Inc.

is part of the operations in Latin America,
of AES Corporation, one of the world’s largest global energy businesses.
In Panama, AES Corporation is the owner of AES Panama operations, energy
generation company that operates since 1999, Bayano’s hydroelectric
plants in the province of Panama, La Estrella and Los Valles in the
province of Chiriqui and in November of 2003 the construction of the
Esti hydroelectric power plant was finished, also in Chiriqui.
AES Panama is currently the country’s largest energy
generator and the largest private hydroelectric generator in Central America.
The company has increased its generation
capacity to 71%, from 282MW to 482MW in the last ten years, thanks to
the expansion and rehabilitation projects of its plants and to the
construction and development of the Esti Hydroelectric power plant,
through a US$570 million dollar investment. |
